While you cannot rewrite previous chapters of your life or relive prior moments, you can allow past negative memories to fade away and no longer cloud or define your reality.

While you cannot forget people or past experiences, you can strip them of their power by shifting your attention away from them and redirecting it towards other things.

And while you cannot forget the moments that caused you pain, you can choose not to dwell on them or live with pain in the present.

You can choose to shift your focus to what you can control, which is what you are capable of creating.

To connect with new moments of joy and pursue new opportunities
To explore how you can maximise the present moment to the best of your abilities
To move forward and make progress
And to focus on what lies ahead rather than what you have left behind.

Sometimes our minds are filled with regret, sadness, guilt and shame towards all that has gone wrong in our lives; the mistakes we have made, the love we have lost and the times when we have been left by someone, parted ways with them or made poor choices that broke apart relationships. And we may lie awake wishing that we could relive these past experiences and as a result, lose the magic of the present moment.

We have all gone through difficulties, faced trauma and experienced tragedy
We have all made past errors and blunders that we regret
We have all lost our way at times
And we have all at times questioned who we are, why we are here and where we are going.

However, when it comes to past events, letting go is an important part of the healing process as while taking responsibility for our mistakes empowers us to become better, our lives should not be coloured and shaped by our regrets.

Not every memory is worth holding on to
Not every moment is worth reliving
Not every mistake is worth recounting
And not every event is worth revisiting

And you can choose to own your mistakes while letting go of your regrets
And refuse to remain trapped in the past
As your present self needs you more than your past self
And who you are becoming
Is more important than who you’ve been.
